Tapio Wirkkala was at the forefront of Finnish design and a contemporary of Sarpaneva. He was a true craftsman who absorbed the natural world around him and turned it into the simplest delicate forms. An eclectic, he embraced a diverse range of disciplines including glass, metalware, furniture, lighting, graphics, industrial design and jewellery. We are particular fans of his ceramics which draw inspiration from nature, his native birds and from the drinking and eating vessels of the Lapp (Sami) culture. Email for our latest Wirkkala pieces.
